All over the world, football captivates audiences to play, watch and bet on the thousands of events that take place every day, ašŸ„€nd betting markets are now as big as the sport itself. One such market that enjoys great popularity at an international level is Asian corners, and we'll be sharing all there is to know here!

Betting on corners is an exciting market which can yielšŸŒ³d great value when done correctly. Asian corners add a little more spice to the mix by offering more winning opportunitiesź¦¦.

There are two main types of Asian corner bets, namely Asian Total corners and Asian Handicap corners. Below, we explain theź§Ÿmź§™ better along with a few examples:

Asian Total Corners Betting

Suppose Manchester United are playing Liverpool in the Premier League. You have decided to bet on Asian total corners and bet on ‘over 10 corners' as shown in the illustration below.

There are three possible outcomes: fewer than 10 corners are taken, more than 10 corners are taken, or exactly 10 corners are taį€£ken. Let's go through them all.

  • List Icon

Fewer than 10 corners are taken: you lose your bet as you bet on ‘over 10 corners'.

  • List Icon

More than 10 corners taken: you win your stake with a correct prediction.

  • List Icon

Exactly 10 corners: this is where the Asian corner lines come in ā€” instead of ļ·½losing your bet, you get your original stake back, i.e. you don't loseź§‚ any money.

Asian 1st Half Total corner betting Strategy

Another popular form of Asian betting is 1st half Asian corners. The bet works in the same way as total corners but only lasts the first half. The market is popular as many punters opt to play it later in the first half. The strategy works like this.Wait until the 35th minute and play over 0.5 more than the current amount of corners. Ex. if five corners are taken by the 35th minute, bet on ā€˜over 5.5 first half cornersā€™. If no more corners are taken, you keep your stake, and if morā™e are taken, youā€™ll win the bet.

Asian Handicap Corners

Although still relatively simple, Asian-Handicap corners are perhaps a little more complicated to grasp. The main difference is the idea of a handicap, which is quite common iną²ž the Asian market.

But what exactly are handicap bets? We'll explain briefly below, but if you want a more in-depth explanation, check out our guide to Asian handicap betting.

In handicap betting, bookmakers exclude the possibility of a draw on an event, meaning there can only be winners and losers. In terms of corners, this is achieved by betting on whišŸ’ƒch team you think will have the most corners in a match. However, there is a catch: the plus and the minus ā€” as shown in the figure below ā€” gives the underdog an advantage and the favourite a disadvantage.

In this case, it's pretty even. Bretford are slight favourites and start the game with a total of ‘-1 corners taken'. If you were to bet on Bretford, they'd need to have 2 more corners than Fulham to win the bet. On the other hand, if you bet on Fulham, a draw in corners would lead to a Fulham win.

ThšŸŽ¶e beauty of it all is that there are many Asian corner š”‰markets to choose from, whether it be for a whole match, first half or second half corners, individual teams, and many more. Itā€™s up to you to find value and make your corner bets count.

Asian Corners vs Regular Corner Betting

Now that we know more about Asianā™‘ total betting and Asian handicap betting, the question is whether they're actually better than betting on regular corner markets. Well, that depends on a number of factš’Ŗors.

Firstly, football betting is all about research. Having a good understanding of what youā€™re betting on will benefit you greatly in the long run. Our dedicated football stats pages, for instance, can give you an extra edge over the bookmakers when placing a bet. For corner kicks, we recommend our football corner stats page.

Secondly, it's all about finding the best value. The key features of each type of bet are as follows: Asian corners give you a much better chance of keeping your stake. Regular corner betting, on the other hand, have higher odds but are also riskier. Asian handicap betting is another interesting form of betting that offers good odds as it levels the playā™Žing field.

Each type of bet has its own strengths that can be advantageous at certain times. Asian corner bets, for example, are excellent when teams are tied, and are a good way to protect your stake. For in-play betting, the Asian market is also a good place to go, with the half corner option being very popular with bettź¦…ors.

The hardest part about Asian betting is wrapping your head around the many dišŸ… fferent types of odds offered during a match. Luckily, in the case of corners, it's a little easier because there aren't as many optiošŸ¤”ns.

The easiest way to illustrate what happens in an Asian bet is to look at a table. In the tables ā›„below, you canź¦— see what it takes to win or lose a bet, or at least to keep your original wager.

Total corners: Let's say you bet that a match will end with over 8 corner kicks. Depending on the number of corners that are actually taken, you can win, lose orāœ¤ get a refund. (The same rules apply for 1st / 2nd half betting)

Actual Corners takenStatusWhat happens
7 or lessLossYou lose your entire bet.
8 exactlyDrawSince you bet on over eight, your stake will be refunded.
9 or moreWinYou win your entire bet.

Asian handicap corners: Handicap betting involves giving teams advantages and disadvantages to level the playing field. If you see -1, +2 or -0.5, this indicates how many corners are subtracted from a team's total. Here's how it works: let's imagine that team one has six corners and team two has foušŸ¼r corners.

-24 (6-2)Refund+26 (4+2)Refund
-33 (6-3)Loss+37 (4+3)Win

Successful betting is typified by a constant search for value ā€” finding a diamond in the rough, so to speak. A perfect bet is almost impošŸ¦©ssible to find, and every one in every betting marā™ket will have its positives and negatives.

Asian corner betting is no different, as highlighted below. Therefore, itā€™s up to you ā€” the punter ā€” to decideļ·½ whether there is value in it fź¦œor yourself.

Advantages
  • Asian corners creates the possibility of retaining your initial stake if an exact amount of corners is reached.
  • Asian Handicap betting gives underdogs much better odds making them a viable betting option.
  • Its an exciting market and a change of pace from regular corner betting.
  • Asian lines are vast, and the corner market is a great place to start understanding how to place bets on Asian markets.
  • In-play betting tends to offer greater value.
Disadvantages
  • Asian corners offer lower odds then regular corners due to the refund elements of the bet.
  • The betting market may be somewhat confusing to beginners.
  • Not all bookies offer the service.

Who doesnā€™t love another betting market to choose from? Asian corners offer precisely that with interesting odds, different betting dynamics, and a great betting experience. Other than beinšŸŒŸg an exciting lā™ive betting option, Asian corner betting provides even more value to punters.

An Asian corner bet is an over / under bet ā€” with an added twist aź¦llowing punters to get a refund if they inadvertently guess the exact number of corners.

Similar to other handicap betting options, teams begin a match with a positive or negative number of corners to even out the playing fā–Øield.

Many bookies offer Asian lines; however, Asian corners are a bit more scarce. bet365 and 10bet are our top picks when it comes to corner bettšŸ¼ing markets.
